Who we are. Vibes is made by Domanski.SI in Cape Town, South Africa. Paul Domanski is responsible for your data. Write to paul@domanski.ai with any question.
What we keep when you join the waitlist:
- your email address and the time you joined;
- the country your connection came from, never your exact location;
- the kind of device you used: iPhone, Android or a computer;
- your answer to "what do you listen on", if you give one;
- the link that brought you here, such as a post or an ad, if there was one.
Why we keep it: to email you about your place in the test and the launch, which you agree to when you join, and to learn where our listeners are and which links bring them. Every email has a one tap unsubscribe.
What we never do: sell it, share it with advertisers, or add you to any other list.
Where it is held: privately, with our hosting provider Cloudflare, in the European Union.
How long we keep it: until a year after Vibes launches, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Counting visits: Cloudflare counts page visits for us as it serves the page. That sets no cookies and builds no profile of you.
Your rights: ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to paul@domanski.ai. We reply within two working days and finish within 30 days. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act and, where they apply, the GDPR and the UK GDPR.
The Vibes app
No account, no name, no email. Our server gives your phone a random code and keeps only a scrambled copy of it.
What the app sends so a Vibe can talk about your music:
- the Vibe and voice you chose, the song playing and the next one, and up to 30 songs you played recently;
- your local time and day, and whether you've turned the DJ voice off;
- if you made your own Vibe, the name you gave it and a short description of its look;
- your city, region and country by name, only if you allow location. Never your exact location.
What our server keeps, and for how long:
- what each Vibe has said to your phone, for 90 days, so it doesn't repeat itself;
- the counts that keep each phone within its daily limits, for 7 days;
- three marks: the first time you open Vibes, when Apple Music is connected, and the days you listen, for 13 months;
- a voiced clip, for 30 minutes;
- our service log, for 14 days.
If your phone doesn't use Vibes for 13 months, everything tied to it is deleted.
Testers on TestFlight also send a short technical trace and any voice notes they choose to record as feedback. Notes and their written words are kept for 30 days.
Who else sees it:
- OpenAI writes each line. It gets the Vibe's character, the song details and the last few songs played, what the Vibe said to you before, your local time and day, the name and look of a Vibe you made, and your city if you allowed it. Never your phone's code.
- ElevenLabs gives each line its voice and checks it. It gets the line's words and the voiced clip, and it writes out testers' voice notes.
- Wikipedia and MusicBrainz get a song's title and artist, so a Vibe can find something worth saying about the record.
- Apple plays your music on your phone through Apple Music. Your music never passes through our server.
- If a tester signs in to Spotify, their taste is read on the phone and never reaches our server.
We never sell any of it or share it with advertisers.
